Le sigh, Verdasco went out in the first round to Jeremy Chardy, 76(4) 63 in straight sets. A match he was expected to win but may be it was too much to haul ass from San Jose and have a deep run? Such is the life of a tennis player on the road. It’s a case of musical chairs as defending SAP Open ’09 champ Radek Stepanek made it through the first round this time, having been knocked out of San Jose. You just can’t predict how things will go during these dull winter days. I am thinking that Andy Roddick now has a clearer path to another win at this tourney or maybe past ’06 & ’07 champ, Tommy Haas. Wouldn’t it be lovely if James Blake could manage to lift the trophy seeing as he’s never won and he could definitely do with a pick me up?
Am now feeling quite okay with not hustling to find a cheap flight, a couch to crash upon, and tickets to this event. I guess things do work out for the best after all ’cause I would have been pissed if I made it to Memphis and Verdasco went out in the 1st round!
