Wow, I can’t believe it’s five days til my desert adventure 🙂
Today the men’s draw will be revealed and I’m tentatively excited about potential match-ups. However, it should be fairly good for me as I’m getting there for the start of 3rd round action, which should see some good seeds going head to head.
Qualifying matches are also being played at IW, which reminded me of my trip to the US Open to catch free qualifying matches. How awesome is that? I tried to do the same at Wimbledon but was locked out. I’m not sure what I needed to get in but I didn’t have it. Imagine my surprise to learn I could see the qualifying matches for free at the US Open. It was a great atmosphere as lots of young people and older folks came out to see the matches. It was nice to have the place to ourselves for a while and really get a look at the grounds.
Sadly it was also the place where I saw the most folks of color trying to work their way into the main draw. Last time at Indian Wells I saw Angela Haynes play a pretty good match against Flavia Pennetta, losing 64 46 16; she had her chances. I can’t wait to see who else I will discover.
