Murray recaptured the Rogers Cup title with his 7-5, 7-5 win over Fed. I was not too surprised by the victory and to tell you the truth, I suspect Fed got what he wanted out of the tourney. I am sure he wouldn’t have turned down the win, but he didn’t seem particularly hungry for it like Muzz. Muzz was in top form taking out Monfils,Nalbandian, and Nadal. He was more impressive with the latter two wins than the first. He improved his serving and kept his temper in check. Wonder if he’ll put two and two together?
I took heart from much of Fed’s play throughout the week. Impressed by his fighting spirit but not so much by his giving away sets. He was utterly capable of winning in straight sets against Berdych and Djokovic. He even had his opportunities against a far from dominant Murray; it was not the beatdown he gave Nadal. Curious as to why Fed is having difficulty closing out matches. Gonna see what the pundits say, though they aren’t the most insightful lot.
Looking forward to reports from Cincy. It goes without saying that I wish I was there as well. Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®
