Gulbis won the first set, 6-4, then Murray won the 2nd (6-3) and then took the 3rd in a tiebreak. Wow, I am surprised that he stretched Murray but it was clearly serious Gulbis who came to play instead of bratty Gulbis, whom I always seem to encounter.
Real #3 Djokovic also showed up as he won in straight sets over Nalby. I must say that it is affirming to see Nalby slapped around by first Murray last week in Toronto and now by Djokovic. Why? Because it highlights the strength of the ATP. Contrast this to Kim Clijster (sp) and Henin’s run last year, where they savaged mostly everyone on the tour even though they had been out of the game for over a year! If Nalby’s run had continued, I believe it would have reflected poorly on the men toiling on the tour while he was away. It’s nice to see that he will have to work himself into shape to keep up with the big boyz. Sent on the Sprint® Now Network from my BlackBerry®
