Sam Stosur Showed My Friend a Good Time at the US Open

Posted on September 5, 2011December 5, 2014 by Agallivant

Yesterday, I took a friend to see live tennis at the US Open. We had tickets for Ashe but we were in nosebleeds for a Feli vs Murray match. I didn’t imagine it would be very competitive (it wasn’t, 6–1, 6–4, 6–2 for Andy), so I encouraged my friend to leave and check out a match on Armstrong. We wanted to be as close to the action as possible and boy did we make a good choice! We stopped in for Stosur vs Kirilenko at the start of the 2nd set and it was by far one of the best matches I saw at the Open. The crowd was electric, Kiri was stalwart (that second set TB!), and dare I say it? Sammy fought like hell to take it, 6–2, 6–7(15–17), 6–3.

We had such a blast… I hope these pictures capture even a hint of the tension as my constant pics of the scoreboard might suggest.
